Corona Treatment of Cables
CableTEC
Corona Treatment of Cables
CableTEC product description
Standard and Customised Corona Treaters. The purpose of surface treatment of polymer based materials is to increase surface wettability through electrical discharge. The low surface energy of polymer based substrates often leads to poor adhesion of inks, glues and coatings.
To obtain optimum adhesion, it is necessary to increase the surface energy of the substrate to just above that of the material to be applied. Surface treatment with corona treatment, results in improved surface adhesion properties.
The CableTEC is a unique and cost effective method for modifying polymer cable insulations (PE, PP, and PTFE), resulting in adhesion property optimization of printing inks and coatings onto the cable. The in-line treating system has been specifically designed by Tantec, to facilitate easy installation to new or existing production lines.
A complete system includes; high frequency generator, high voltage transformer, air-cooled electrodes, ozone filter and a customized stand alone or bench-top treating station. CableTEC conforms to CE regulations and carries the CE-marking.
Standard CableTEC
This product is manufactured as a standard machine to match common
production requirements. It offers a proven configuration with defined
footprint, treatment concept and machine interface, making it easy to
integrate into industrial production.
Customized CableTEC
This product can be customized to fit your production. Tantec can adapt
the solution to your part geometry, process requirements and production
flow, including footprint, cycle time, chamber size, part capacity and
machine interface.
The purpose of surface treatment of polymer based materials is to increase surface wettability through electrical discharge.

FAQ
What is CableTEC used for?
CableTEC is a corona treatment system for cables and wires before printing, marking, etc.
How does CableTEC work?
CableTEC uses corona discharge treatment around cable surfaces. The process is controlled so the surface or component can be treated, checked or prepared with repeatable results.
Which materials or components can be used with CableTEC?
CableTEC is suitable for cables, wires and similar profiles. The final setup depends on the material, geometry and production requirements.
Can CableTEC be integrated into production?
Yes. CableTEC can be installed inline with cable extrusion, marking or printing equipment. This makes it suitable for both new production concepts and upgrades of existing processes.
What production challenge does CableTEC help solve?
CableTEC helps solve challenges related to low surface energy, poor wetting and unreliable adhesion. It supports a more stable result before the next production step.
Can CableTEC treat hard-to-treat materials?
Yes. CableTEC is available for hard-to-treat materials such as Teflon and cross-linked polymers.
Does CableTEC provide 360° treatment?
Yes. CableTEC provides 360° non-contact treatment for uniform activation around the cable surface.
How fast can CableTEC treat cables?
CableTEC can support high-speed treatment up to 600 m/min, depending on the insulating material and process setup.
Is CableTEC an environmentally friendly solution?
Yes. Corona treatment is a dry, controlled process that can reduce the need for chemical primers or additional pre-treatment where the application allows it.
Can CableTEC be delivered as a standard or customized solution?
Yes. CableTEC is available as standard and customized corona treatment systems, depending on cable diameter, material, line speed and production requirements.
