Corona treatment of syringes

SyrinTEC product description

Outside Surface Treatment

SyrinTEC is specially designed for 360° Corona treatment of PP and PE syringe barrels.

Normally the SyrinTEC is built into the printing line and positioned as the final process before the barrels enter into the printing machine.

Using the SyrinTEC enables treatment of the entire outside surface without any inside treatment, which would increase friction on the inside barrel and cause the plunger to drag when used.

The purpose of surface treatment of polymer-based materials is to increase surface wettability through electrical discharge.

The low surface energy of polymer-based substrates often leads to poor adhesion of inks, glues and coatings.

To obtain optimum adhesion, it is necessary to increase the surface energy of the substrate to just above that of the material to be applied.

Surface treatment with corona results in improved surface adhesion properties.

SyrinTEC is specially designed for optimizing the adhesion properties of printing inks onto syringe barrels which are normally made of low surface energy polymer material such as PP, PE and others.

SyrinTEC uses highly durable ceramic electrode elements resulting in complete and uniform treatment of the syringe barrels.

The SyrinTEC is available both as a standard unit in a low and high speed configuration for integration into existing printing lines customised units are available for specific printing machines.

Inside Surface Treatment

Tantec also offers solutions with the ability to treat the inside of syringes.

The surface treatment effect on the inside of the syringe allows for better coating of the syringe interior to reduce friction when pushing and pulling the plunger.

Tantec can work with your production process and requirements to determine which style of corona treatment is best suited to meet your needs.

FAQ

What is SyrinTEC used for?

SyrinTEC is a corona treatment system for syringes and medical plastic components.

How does SyrinTEC work?

SyrinTEC uses corona treatment of syringe surfaces and inside areas.

Which materials or components can be used with SyrinTEC?

SyrinTEC is suitable for syringes, syringe barrels and medical plastic components. The final setup depends on the material, geometry and production requirements.

Can SyrinTEC be integrated into production?

Yes. SyrinTEC can be integrated into medical device production lines. This makes it suitable for both new production concepts and upgrades of existing processes.

How does SyrinTEC improve print adhesion?

SyrinTEC increases the surface wettability of the syringe barrel, creating better conditions for reliable ink adhesion.

Does outside treatment affect the inside of the syringe?

No. SyrinTEC treats only the outside surface, avoiding increased friction inside the syringe barrel.

What are the key advantages of SyrinTEC?

Key advantages include 360 degree outside treatment and inside corona treatment options. These features make SyrinTEC practical for industrial use where uptime, control and repeatability matter.

Can Tantec also treat the inside of syringes?

Yes. Tantec also offers inside corona treatment solutions for syringe barrels, for applications where improved coating or reduced plunger friction is required.

Is SyrinTEC an environmentally friendly solution?

Yes. SyrinTEC uses a dry electrical corona process and can reduce the need for chemical primers or additional pre-treatment where the application allows it.

Can SyrinTEC be delivered as a standard or customized solution?

SyrinTEC is a customized solution, tailored to match your syringe barrel, printing machine, line speed and production requirements.
